Privacy Policy

Welcome to Maer.io ("we", "our", or "us"). We provide uptime monitoring, cron job and heartbeat failure detection, and multi-channel alerting services ("Services").

Effective Date: August 24, 2026 Last Updated: August 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information and data when you visit maer.io, use our console at console.maer.io, or interact with our API and integrations (including the Maer.io Slack App).

1. Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account Information: Email address, authentication provider ID (Google, GitHub), and account tier when you sign up or log in.
  • Alerting & Integration Credentials:
    • Slack Integration: Workspace name, team ID, channel ID/name, and OAuth bot access tokens generated when you install the Maer.io Slack application.
    • Other Channels: Webhook URLs, notification email recipients, or third-party integration keys (e.g., PagerDuty, Opsgenie) you explicitly configure.
  • Billing Information: Payment transactions are processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full credit card numbers or banking details on our servers; we only store Stripe customer IDs and subscription status.

B. Operational & Monitoring Data

  • Heartbeat / Ping Data: Job identifiers (agent_id), timestamps of pings received, execution duration, and custom metadata or error details sent in check-in requests.
  • System Logs: HTTP request logs, IP addresses, browser user-agents, and diagnostic information collected for security and performance monitoring.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your data for the following specific purposes:

  • Core Service Delivery: To monitor job heartbeats, evaluate overdue checks, and dispatch real-time notifications when a job fails or resolves.
  • Slack & Channel Dispatch: To deliver formatted alert notifications and status updates to your configured Slack channels or endpoints.
  • Account Management: To authenticate your identity, manage API access tokens, and enforce subscription tier limits.
  • Customer Support & Communications: To send critical transactional notices (e.g., email verifications, incident recovery emails, billing receipts).
  • Security & Abuse Prevention: To detect and prevent DDoS attacks, malicious usage, and unauthorized access.

3. How We Handle Slack Data

When you connect the Maer.io Slack App to your workspace:

No Slack Message Content Access

We do NOT read, store, or analyze the contents of your Slack channels, direct messages, or workspace chat history.

  • Scopes & Permissions: We only request permissions necessary to deliver notifications (chat:write, chat:write.public, incoming-webhook).
  • Token Security: OAuth bot access tokens are encrypted and securely stored in our isolated database solely to post alerts to the specific channels you authorize.
  • Revocation: You can disconnect the integration at any time from the Maer.io Console or from your Slack Workspace settings under "Installed Apps".

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data only with trusted third-party service providers that assist in operating our platform under strict confidentiality agreements:

Stripe Payment processing, billing portal, and subscription lifecycle
Amazon SES / ZeptoMail Transactional email delivery and verification
Cloudflare DNS, DDoS protection, edge caching, and infrastructure
Sentry Application error monitoring and telemetry

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties or advertising networks.

5. Data Retention & Security

Security by Design

All communications between your browser, our servers, third-party APIs, and databases are encrypted using TLS 1.3 / HTTPS. We enforce strict database isolation and per-service authentication across our microservices.

  • Retention: We retain account and monitoring configuration data as long as your account is active. Historical check-in logs are automatically rotated and pruned according to your plan retention limits.
  • Security Controls: Access to production databases and infrastructure is restricted to authorized personnel with multi-factor authentication and strict least-privilege policies.

6. Your Rights & Data Control

Depending on your jurisdiction (such as GDPR in Europe or LGPD in Brazil), you have the right to:

  • Access and export the personal data associated with your account.
  • Update or correct your notification channels and personal preferences.
  • Disconnect any third-party authorization (e.g., Slack OAuth).
  • Request the complete deletion of your account and associated monitoring data.

To exercise any of these rights, simply email us at support@maer.io.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting an announcement in the Console or via email prior to the changes taking effect.
